Quick answer. GeraVoice is a protocol for voice-native service interactions — booking a doctor, hiring a cleaner, ordering dinner — via a spoken sentence. In the US, the design constraints are TCPA (unsolicited calls), ADA (accessibility), state two-party consent recording laws, and the FTC’s expanded AI voice-cloning enforcement. Not yet live; 2027 reference targeted.

Why voice matters in the US

US consumers already transact by voice in constrained domains: Alexa for shopping, Siri for messages, drive-thru ordering by voice. The volumes are large but mostly single-task. A voice-native protocol for services — multi-turn, identity- bound, able to complete a booking with payment and confirmation — is the 2030 opportunity.

Accessibility alone is a major driver. The ADA increasingly reaches digital services; the Justice Department's April 2024 final rule on web accessibility under Title II raised the bar for state and local government web and app content to WCAG 2.1 AA. Voice-native interfaces benefit screen-reader users, low-vision users, and motor-impaired users — opening services that are often practically inaccessible through typed UI.

US legal constraints to design around

  • TCPA: outbound automated calls and texts to US numbers require consent. Agent-initiated outbound voice must respect consumer consent records.
  • ADA Title III: digital accessibility; voice is an accessibility lever when done well.
  • State wiretapping / two-party consent: California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Washington, Florida are two-party-consent states. Call recording (for agent training or dispute) requires consent disclosure.
  • FTC Voice Cloning Challenge + Section 5: deceptive impersonation is actionable; Robocall Mitigation Database and STIR/SHAKEN rules apply to carriers.
  • Right of publicity: state-level (California, NY, Tennessee ELVIS Act 2024) protects voice likeness.
  • FCC 2024 ruling: AI-generated voices in robocalls are artificial voices under TCPA.
  • HIPAA: any voice interaction touching PHI in healthcare needs BAA and encryption.

What voice-native commerce looks like in US 2030

A single sentence: “book me the 8am Saturday slot at GeraClinic with a Spanish- speaking doctor, use my HSA.” The agent confirms; a calendar event appears; the HSA card is charged; the user receives a text confirmation. For elderly or low-vision users in rural US markets, this is substantially more accessible than multi-screen web flows. For bilingual households across the Southwest and major cities, language support matters; GeraVoice launches in English and Spanish first.
